Bill Rate: $25,000 sign-on; $10,000 relocation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on labor, delivery, postpartum and neonatal nursing care including focused 1:1 labor support
- Monitor, interpret and document electronic fetal heart rate tracings using NICHD terminology and perform NSTs
- Deliver total perioperative C-section nursing care from post-op recovery to discharge
- Stabilize high-risk maternal and neonatal patients and coordinate transfers to tertiary facilities when needed
- Triage OB phone calls and manage unscheduled outpatient needs to ensure timely, safe care
- Offer breastfeeding support, teaching and lactation consults for new families
- Supervise and delegate to CNAs, LPNs and support staff; act as Contact RN when assigned
- Provide patient/family education, complete thorough assessments and maintain accurate EHR documentation
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-services and maintain required competencies and certifications
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have active Alaska license)
- BLS required on hire; ACLS, PALS and NRP required within 6 months if not on hire; ACLS maintained biannually thereafter
- One year of clinical nursing experience preferred; prior Labor & Delivery/OB experience preferred
- Ability to work independently, make sound judgments in emergencies and provide perioperative C-section care
- Experience supervising and delegating to CNA/LPN staff; strong communication and teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and NICHD electronic fetal heart rate tracing terminology
- Medication administration and familiarity with common pharmaceuticals and side effects
- Skill with basic and specialized medical equipment (defibrillator, suction, EKG, etc.)
- EHR documentation accuracy and effective oral/written communication
- Patient/family education, triage skills and comfort coordinating inter-facility transfers
