Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry and patient observation systems to catch changes early and act decisively
• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to PCU patients, including preparation for procedures like Endoscopy, IR, and OR
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient plans
• Serve as a patient and family educator — explain conditions, treatments, and discharge plans in clear, reassuring terms
• Respond to emergencies and changes in condition with calm, skilled intervention
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers during each shift

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of North Carolina or compact multistate license as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (telemetry/medical-surgical experience preferred)
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience with medical telemetry monitoring and Cerner EMR
• CMSRN encouraged (preferred)
• BSN preferred; leadership or charge nurse experience is a plus
• Ability to work nights and commit to required weekend shift sign-ups

Education

• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring skills and ability to recognize arrhythmias and physiological change
• Proficient use of Cerner Patient Observation (CPO) and bedside documentation workflows
• Excellent patient assessment and clinical judgment in a progressive care setting
• Clear communication and teamwork skills for fast-paced unit collaboration
• Familiarity with remote monitoring equipment and VC150 systems
• Time management and prioritization in a high-acuity environment
