Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for CVICU patients, including post CABG, post VAD, and post cath care
• Manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring such as Swan-Ganz and arterial lines and act on findings
• Perform ventilator management and titrate support based on patient needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute safe, effective care plans
• Operate and monitor cardiac support devices including IABP, Impella, and ECMO when applicable
• Document care accurately and promptly in Meditech charting and order entry
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking in rapidly changing situations to improve outcomes
• Adhere to unit guidelines, attendance policies, and dress code while promoting patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (NO temporary licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or CVICU nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIH certification/training required
• Hands-on experience with Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial line management
• Proven ventilator management skills
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation preferred
• Experience with IABP, CRRT, Impella or ECMO is a strong plus

• Critical thinking and rapid assessment in high acuity settings

• Infection control, safe medication administration, and bedside procedures
• Strong communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary groups
• Time management and prioritization during high census periods
