Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons in the operating room as the First Assist, ensuring safe and precise perioperative support
• Maintain a sterile field and follow best practices for infection prevention
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to coordinate patient care
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor perioperative status throughout procedures
• Document care accurately in the medical record and follow facility charting guidelines
• Adhere to CNOR standards and contribute to continuous quality and safety improvements
• Support efficient OR flow by preparing rooms, instruments, and equipment, and communicating needs proactively

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years current First Assist Operating Room experience (required)
• Bachelor of Science degree (required)
• Active Massachusetts RN license (must be uploaded at profile submission or application in hand)
• Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Active CNOR certification (required)
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)
• Meditech Expanse experience highly preferred
• Traveler must have a permanent address included in profile and their own vehicle
• Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility per facility policy
• All scheduling and requested time off must be provided at submission; no post-offer scheduling requests

Education

• Bachelor of Science

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and first assist techniques
• Sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR safety protocols
• Strong intraoperative communication and team coordination
• Accurate perioperative documentation and charting
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse or similar EMR systems (preferred)
• Ability to follow facility policies and state licensure requirements
