Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Days 05:45 AM - 05:45 PM and Nights 05:45 PM - 05:45 AM; every other weekend required; holiday rotation with core staff; report at bedside

Candidate Pay Rate: $120 - $84 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity post-op and critical care nursing for cardiovascular surgical patients, including CABG recovery and TAVR monitoring
• Monitor and manage complex devices and therapies such as IABP, CRRT (Next Stage), and Swan catheter monitoring
• Interpret telemetry and EKG strips, manage ventilators, and titrate critical drips safely and promptly
• Collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists who are in-house to coordinate patient care
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, provide break relief, and support team workflow
• Float to other Sacramento facilities as needed while maintaining continuity and quality of care
• Follow established pathway protocols and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (required)
• Minimum 2 full years of CVICU experience (required)
• At least one prior travel assignment to be considered
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Strong telemetry/EKG interpretation skills and ventilator management experience
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Familiarity with CRRT and Swan monitoring; core staff will validate CABG recovery, IABP, and CRRT skills
• Ability to work assigned cases without special accommodations and to float between facilities

Education

• Active RN license in California (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and cardiovascular surgical ICU nursing
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Mechanical ventilation and respiratory care basics
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) knowledge
• Hemodynamic monitoring, inotropes, and vasoactive drips
• Cerner electronic medical record navigation
• Strong communication, teamwork, and rapid clinical decision-making
• Ability to function confidently in a very high-acuity environment
