Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and post-surgical patients
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following chemo protocols when applicable
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document care accurately in Cerner
• Coordinate care with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and support staff to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
• Support unit workflow including admissions, discharges, and transfer processes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (oncology or med-surg experience preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Chemo certification (preferred/nice-to-have)
• Comfortable working with electronic medical records (Cerner experience is a plus)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and safe chemotherapy handling
• Med-surg skills including assessment, IV therapy, and post-op care
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Ability to manage typical unit procedures such as pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis support
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
• Ability to manage patient ratios typically around 1:4 or 1:5
