Shift Type: Primarily day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour day); Day shift. Schedule includes an on-call rotation averaging 4-5 days per month and approximately 1 weekend per month.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular, open heart and vascular surgeries
• Prepare the CVOR and Heart Tower operating rooms, ensuring sterile technique and equipment readiness
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, perfusionists and the OR team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
• Monitor and manage complex intraoperative patient needs, including cases involving ECMO and valve work
• Document care accurately and timely in the Meditech EMR to support handoffs and continuity
• Advocate for patients and maintain a 1:1 care focus to ensure optimal outcomes
• Float to Main OR as needed and assist with unit flow to keep the day running smoothly

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact where applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (CVOR/Operating Room experience preferred)
• Proven experience with open heart and/or vascular surgery cases
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and participating in an on-call rotation
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular surgery and OR workflow knowledge
• Strong sterile technique and surgical instrumentation skills
• Patient assessment and hemodynamic monitoring during complex procedures
• Experience or comfort with ECMO cases and advanced cardiac procedures
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR documentation
• Excellent teamwork, communication and adaptability in a high-acuity setting
