Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Provide compassionate hands-on care that preserves dignity and promotes independence
- Support mobility and transfer assistance safely using proper techniques
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Help create a welcoming environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and long-term care residents
- Clear background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a kind, patient demeanor
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
- Basic vital signs monitoring and reporting
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safe patient handling
- Good documentation and time-management habits
- Teamwork, empathy, and clear verbal communication with residents and staff
