Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents—assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
• Take and accurately record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
• Assist with safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Document care activities clearly to support continuity of care and team communication
• Support residents’ emotional and social needs through respectful, person-centered interaction
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
• Active or eligible placement on the Maryland nursing assistant registry
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Comfortable working overnight hours and supporting older adult populations
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a compassionate approach to care

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and elder care best practices
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with feeding and mobility
• Familiarity with infection prevention, safety protocols, and reporting procedures
• Accurate documentation and good time-management skills
• Empathy, patience, and clear communication with residents, families, and team members
