Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, making their comfort and dignity a top priority
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, and routine observations accurately
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing staff and document care in charts
- Help create a warm environment by engaging residents in conversations and activity support
- Follow infection control policies and facility procedures to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-equivalent credential
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or with geriatric populations is a plus
- Demonstrated patience, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and any required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved GNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skill with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, documenting care, observing changes
- Familiarity with infection prevention practices and resident safety protocols
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
