Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
- Observe and report changes in residents condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care and resident interactions accurately and professionally
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Maintain a clean and safe environment following infection control guidelines
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person centered care
Qualifications
- GNA certification or Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in long term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient centered approach
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing assistant skills including ADLs and vital sign monitoring
- Safe resident handling and transferring techniques
- Familiarity with infection control and hygiene best practices
- Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
- Teamwork and the ability to follow care plans and direction from RNs
