Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Support safe patient transfers and positioning with proper body mechanics
• Take and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with meal service and observe dietary needs and intake
• Document care accurately and timely in patient records to ensure continuity
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear communication
• Maintain a clean, safe, and dignified environment for residents at all times
• Uphold infection control practices and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or completion of an accredited GNA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable assisting older adults and supporting mobility and daily care needs
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or state-recognized GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic clinical procedures and vital sign measurement
• Understanding of infection prevention and resident safety practices
• Familiarity with documentation and basic charting expectations
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and instructions
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and families
