Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition, including vital signs and behavior changes
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records to ensure continuity of care
• Support mobility and fall prevention efforts through safe transfer and ambulation assistance
• Communicate effectively with nurses, families, and the care team to coordinate resident needs
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Participate in care planning and team meetings to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — you know your way around geriatric care
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required depending on facility policy)
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Comfortable assisting with personal care and mobility for older adults
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or working with geriatric populations is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA certification or equivalent state credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic skills in taking and recording vital signs and observing resident status
• Infection control practices and safe body mechanics
• Good documentation habits and attention to detail
• Teamwork, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
