Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care to patients in a correctional facility setting
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes in the health record
• Collaborate with security and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe routines
• Monitor and escalate changes in patient condition promptly
• Support infection control and safety protocols specific to correctional healthcare
• Assist with intake screenings, chronic care management and emergency response

Qualifications

• Current LPN licensure in Alabama or compact state privileges as applicable
• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
• Not accepting new graduates; prior clinical experience required
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet security requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program and active state LPN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medication administration and documentation skills
• Familiarity with correctional nursing protocols and security-aware care
• Effective communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Assessment and triage skills for acute and chronic conditions
• Basic electronic health record (EHR) navigation and charting
• Infection control, safety, and emergency response knowledge
