Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to promote dignity and comfort
• Assist with mobility and safe transfers, using proper techniques to protect residents and yourself
• Measure, record, and report vital signs and any changes in condition promptly
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Document care accurately and timely to support continuity and quality of care
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff and families about resident needs and changes
• Support social and recreational activities to enhance resident well-being
• Participate in team huddles, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — your core credential for this role
• State nursing assistant registration if applicable for Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained promptly upon hire
• Compassionate nature, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
• Willingness to complete required screenings and background checks

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and respect for older adults
• Patient safety and fall prevention techniques
• Basic infection control practices and hand hygiene
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy
• Good time management, observation, and documentation skills
