Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) with kindness
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Take and record vital signs and other routine clinical observations accurately
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention practices for residents
- Document care clearly and professionally in resident records
- Collaborate with teammates to create a warm, consistent environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — Maryland certification preferred
- Active CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- State-required immunizations and TB clearance (or willingness to complete)
- Comfortable working with older adults and committed to person-centered care
- Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with residents and team members
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused approaches
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers
- Good observational skills and ability to report changes accurately
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, patient demeanor
- Familiarity with care documentation and basic electronic charting preferred
