Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor resident status and promptly report changes or concerns to nursing staff
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
- Promote a comfortable, clean and safe living environment for residents
- Engage residents in friendly conversation and meaningful social interaction
Qualifications
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Current state registry listing or equivalent credential as applicable
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but new grads with GNA training are welcome
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- Completion of GNA program or equivalent training; high school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with geriatric care principles and elder-centered approaches
- Basic understanding of infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families and team members
- Comfortable with routine documentation and following care plans
- Strong observational skills and the ability to escalate changes appropriately
- Team-player attitude and willingness to support colleagues
