Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Monitor and record resident condition, reporting changes to the nursing team
- Support mobility and fall prevention efforts to keep residents safe
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and respectful living environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to implement care plans
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear, kind communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
- High school diploma or GED (see Education section for details)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Ability to work night shifts and pass required background and health screenings
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Ability to take and document vital signs and basic observations
- Familiarity with infection control and safe transfer/mobility techniques
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Time management and prioritization in a busy care setting
- Comfortable following care plans and reporting changes to licensed staff
