Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor and record resident condition, reporting changes to the nursing team
• Support mobility and fall prevention efforts to keep residents safe
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and respectful living environment
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to implement care plans
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear, kind communication

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED (see Education section for details)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Prior experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
• Ability to work night shifts and pass required background and health screenings
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Ability to take and document vital signs and basic observations
• Familiarity with infection control and safe transfer/mobility techniques
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
• Time management and prioritization in a busy care setting
• Comfortable following care plans and reporting changes to licensed staff
