Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Support safe mobility and transfers; help residents move, ambulate, and use assistive devices
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ status to the nursing team to ensure timely care
• Document care delivered accurately and promptly in resident records
• Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities to support emotional well-being
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
• Comfortable with patient handling and basic lifting; ability to assist with physical tasks
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with resident care and ADLs
• Basic understanding of infection control practices and safety procedures
• Ability to observe, record, and report changes in resident condition
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with older adults
• Familiarity with handoff communication and working in interdisciplinary teams
