Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and observe residents for changes in condition
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Communicate clearly with nursing staff and families to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility policies for resident care
- Contribute to a positive resident environment by engaging in meaningful interactions
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and understanding of geriatric needs
- Able to pass background check and drug screen as required by the facility
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar setting is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and personal care techniques
- Skill in measuring and documenting vital signs accurately
- Ability to provide respectful, patient-centered care for older adults
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Basic charting and reporting skills; follows care plans reliably
