Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate hands-on care and emotional support to older adults
• Help with meal service and ensure residents receive timely nourishment
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident interactions
• Follow infection control protocols and keep the care environment safe and clean
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
• Participate in trainings and team meetings to continuously improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent (required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care tasks
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude and strong communication skills
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but caring attitude counts

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and best practices
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
• Good observation skills to notice changes in condition and report them
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Teamwork mindset and willingness to support colleagues
