Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate hands-on care and emotional support to older adults
- Help with meal service and ensure residents receive timely nourishment
- Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Follow infection control protocols and keep the care environment safe and clean
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Participate in trainings and team meetings to continuously improve resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care tasks
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude and strong communication skills
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but caring attitude counts
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and best practices
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
- Good observation skills to notice changes in condition and report them
- Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Teamwork mindset and willingness to support colleagues
