Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, dignified direct care to residents, focusing on comfort and safety
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Perform routine tasks such as vital signs, toileting assistance, and feeding support when needed
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation and follow facility protocols
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary teams to support personalized care plans
- Promote a positive, respectful environment that preserves resident independence and dignity
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a team
- Pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of elder care best practices and common geriatric conditions
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, safe resident transfers, feeding assistance
- Infection control and hygiene protocols
- Ability to document accurately and follow care plans
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with memory-impaired residents
