Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-op and medical-surgical nursing care for urology patients, focusing on safety and comfort
• Perform catheter care and manage urinary retention cases with skill and attention to detail
• Place orders and coordinate medication refills accurately and promptly
• Respond to nurse calls and messages professionally, triaging needs and communicating clearly
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate closely with MAs, MA lead, and clinic leadership to keep the unit running smoothly
• Participate in unit-specific Urology orientation and follow established protocols and dress code

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (MedSurg/Urology preferred)
• Demonstrated catheter care experience — this is a must-have
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR for charting and order entry
• Ability to collaborate with MA staff and clinic leadership
• Candidates may NOT have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year (radius rule applies)

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and pre-operative care
• Experience with catheter management and urinary retention interventions
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record system
• Excellent communication, triage, and patient education skills
• Ability to work well in a small-unit environment (7 beds) and adapt to team needs
• Familiarity with clinic workflows, order entry, and medication refill processes
