Roles & Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately and safely, verifying prescriptions and dosing
• Counsel patients and caregivers on medication use, side effects and adherence
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to optimize medication therapy
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws
• Manage inventory and medication storage to support uninterrupted patient care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help implement best practices
• Administer or assist with immunizations and other patient-facing clinical services where authorized
• Support and mentor pharmacy technicians and staff to build a strong local team

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist license in Alaska or ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• DEA registration as required for controlled substance dispensing, or ability to obtain
• Excellent communication and patient counseling skills, with strong attention to detail
• Prior retail, hospital or community pharmacy experience preferred (1+ year preferred)

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics and drug interactions
• Familiarity with pharmacy information systems and electronic medication records
• Understanding of federal and state pharmacy regulations and controlled substance handling
• Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a smaller or remote community setting
• Customer service mindset with the ability to build rapport with patients and providers
