Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and thoroughly using the nursing process to guide care
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize safety and outcomes
- Provide hands-on emergency and telemetry care, responding accurately to clinical changes
- Communicate effectively with physicians and the care team about patient status and diagnostic results
- Teach patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with compassion
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions and documentation
- Guide and support other nursing personnel to uphold professional standards of care
- Follow EMTALA and mandatory reporting requirements for patient safety and compliance
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting; Emergency Department experience preferred
- Current BLS certificate required upon hire and must be maintained
- ACLS required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
- PALS and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire
- CEN preferred; BSN preferred
- Additional certifications like NRP and DCI/BVP are a plus
Education
- Current and valid RN license (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and telemetry monitoring skills
- Care planning and implementation with a focus on emergency interventions
- Ability to deliver emergency care and respond to rapid clinical changes
- Experience with patient/family teaching and clear clinical communication
- Understanding of EMTALA and mandatory reporting for abuse
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional nursing standards
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment
