Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on a med/surg unit, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately in Meditech
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth handoffs and continuity
• Prioritize and manage a patient assignment with attention to safety (typical ratios noted at 6:1)
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Respond to clinical changes and emergencies calmly and effectively
• Support unit workflow by collaborating with unit secretaries and PCTs and floating when needed

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to work in Tennessee or compact license as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med/Surg preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Experience documenting in Meditech strongly preferred
• Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekend schedules
• Willingness to float to other departments based on unit needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid med/surg nursing knowledge and clinical assessment skills
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic health record documentation
• Strong medication administration and IV care skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced unit with patient ratios around 6:1
• Familiarity with trauma center and stroke center workflows is a plus
• Effective communication, teamwork, and time management
