Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care for adult patients, delivering compassionate bedside nursing
• Manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, balloon pumps (IABP) and CRRT with precision
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures including central line placement, chest tube insertion/removal, thoracentesis, intubation and extubation
• Monitor Swan-Ganz/PA catheters and arterial lines, titrating therapies and responding to changes quickly
• Document accurately and efficiently in Meditech to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and the charge nurse to coordinate complex care plans
• Provide clear patient and family education to support recovery and satisfaction
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control, and best-practice critical care standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of Nevada or compact RN where applicable)
• Must have 2 years recent ICU/CVICU experience (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and using advanced cardiac support: IABP, CRRT, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter, arterial and central lines
• Comfortable performing or supporting bedside central line placement, chest tube procedures, thoracentesis, intubation and extubation
• Open heart surgery recovery experience preferred
• Able to float to other ICUs/IMC/ED as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Use of rapid infuser and blood warmer equipment
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation system
• Strong assessment, prioritization and crisis management skills
• Familiarity with 1:1 and 1:2 patient ratios in high-acuity settings
• Ability to work independently on night shift and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
