Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced critical care nursing to SICU patients, managing complex hemodynamics and ventilator support
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Respond rapidly and effectively to emergencies and code situations to stabilize patients
• Perform and manage critical procedures such as intubations, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes and NG/foley care
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in Meditech and maintain timely charting
• Communicate clearly with families and providers to support patient-centered care decisions
• Float across units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety and unit guidelines

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Minimum 2-3 years of ICU/SICU experience (candidates without this experience will not be considered)
• Comfortable with floating and rotating weekend schedules
• Experience with critical care modalities such as CRRT and IABP is a strong plus
• Meditech documentation experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-acuity settings
• Hands-on experience with ventilator management and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Familiarity with CRRT, IABP and other ICU technologies
• Proficient in Meditech or similar electronic medical record systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to badge in/out accurately, adhere to unit policies, and take a full 30-minute lunch per guidelines
