Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry closely and respond quickly to changes to keep patients safe
- Perform IV starts and manage vascular access with confidence and care
- Provide Foley catheter insertion/care and support infection prevention best practices
- Perform chest tube removal per unit protocols and ensure patient comfort during procedures
- Document assessments and interventions clearly in Meditech so care is coordinated and accurate
- Deliver post-op CABG patient care when needed, including vigilant monitoring and timely escalation
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to plan and deliver excellent patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families about their condition, treatments, and discharge needs to promote recovery
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (telemetry experience is a must-have)
- Proven comfort with telemetry monitoring and GE Telemetry systems
- Experience performing IV starts, Foley catheter care, and chest tube removal
- Experience with Meditech is preferred
- Experience caring for post-op CABG patients is a plus
- Outgoing, team-player attitude with willingness to take initiative and support unit needs
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- GE Telemetry system familiarity
- Meditech EMR documentation skills
- Hands-on procedural skills: IV starts, Foley care, chest tube removal
- Strong clinical assessment and triage abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork in a busy acute care setting
