Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-op orthopedic nursing care, ensuring patients recover safely and comfortably
• Perform dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and wound vac maintenance with attention to detail
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes skillfully to prevent complications
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Assist with patient mobility and use of specialized equipment (lifts, walkers, CPM) to promote safe ambulation
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, mobility, and wound management

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed)
• Orthopedic nursing experience or strong Med-Surg background preferred
• Hospital experience preferred; ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
• Experience with Cerner EMR is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and post-operative orthopedic care skills
• Wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac familiarity
• Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Comfortable using mobility equipment and patient lifts (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, etc.)
• Proficient documentation skills in Cerner EMR
• Team-player mentality, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and patient-centered communication
