Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert care for the laboring patient from admission through delivery, ensuring safety and comfort
• Perform immediate newborn care after delivery, including initial assessment and stabilization
• Circulate and recover cesarean section patients, collaborating closely with the surgical team
• Monitor fetal status and intervene appropriately using AWHONN/CEFM standards
• Document care accurately and timely using CPN and Meditach electronic systems
• Serve as a clear communicator with families and the interdisciplinary team, supporting shared decision making
• Maintain unit safety and infection control standards while delivering compassionate care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state license required)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (must have)
• Certifications required: AWHONN Intermediate or CEFM, NRP, ACLS, and BLS
• Comfortable with cesarean circulation/recovery and immediate newborn care
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems such as CPN and Meditach
• Ability to work rotating nights, weekends, and participate in call rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery nursing best practices and maternal/newborn physiology
• Skill in fetal monitoring and interpretation consistent with CEFM/AWHONN standards
• Proficiency in immediate newborn assessment and resuscitation (NRP)
• Competence in perioperative support for C-sections and postpartum recovery care
• Excellent clinical documentation skills using electronic health record systems
• Teamwork, clear communication, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced unit
