Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour nights), every other weekend (no call)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on, compassionate care for newborns, including routine assessments and bedside care
- Administer and monitor phototherapy and blood sugar management for Level 2 babies
- Document accurate clinical information in EMRs (Meditech and CPN) to ensure seamless care continuity
- Collaborate with the mother-baby team to support healthy transitions from delivery to nursery
- Educate and coach parents on newborn care, feeding, and safety in a warm, approachable way
- Maintain safe patient ratios and escalate concerns promptly to promote optimal outcomes
- Contribute to unit teamwork and support a positive, family-centered care environment
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to work in Texas)
- Minimum 1 year experience in newborn/newborn nursery or related maternal-child nursing
- Current BLS and NRP certifications (required)
- STABLE/newborn stabilization familiarity (listed as 'Stable')
- Experience with Level 2 newborn care: phototherapy and blood sugar monitoring
- Comfort using Meditech and CPN electronic medical records
- Warm, patient-focused bedside manner — a friendly, 'warm and bubbly' fit for parent education
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong newborn assessment and monitoring skills
- Clinical experience with phototherapy and neonatal glucose management
- Proficient documentation in Meditech and CPN EMR systems
- Ability to work independently on night shifts while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills for parent teaching and care handoffs
- Familiarity with typical nursery patient ratios (approximately 1:5-6) and workload management
