Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert antepartum care for high-risk obstetrical patients, monitoring maternal and fetal status closely
• Perform continuous and intermittent fetal monitoring and intervene appropriately
• Manage critical therapies such as magnesium sulfate and preterm labor protocols with confidence
• Collaborate with labor and delivery, physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, timely care
• Document care accurately using Meditech and CPIN and ensure clear handoffs
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to ensure patient safety
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans and discharge needs in a compassionate way
• Support unit needs by floating as required and participating in quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• BLS and NRP certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required
• Minimum 2 years of hospital experience, with high-risk obstetrical experience (Labor & Delivery or Antepartum) preferred
• Experience managing magnesium sulfate therapy and preterm labor
• ACLS and RNC preferred
• Experience with Meditech and CPIN documentation preferred

Education

• Valid RN nursing credential (ADN or BSN) with current TX RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of antepartum and labor and delivery nursing care
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation and response
• Comfort managing high acuity obstetrical patients
• Skilled in medication management for obstetrical emergencies including magnesium sulfate
• Familiarity with Meditech and CPIN electronic documentation systems
• Excellent communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work autonomously on night shifts while collaborating closely with the L&D team
