Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Day shift); rotating coverage includes 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor med-surg patients, including post-op orthopedic and bariatric care
- Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on safe recovery and patient comfort
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies with attention to safety and accuracy
- Operate and safely use Hoyer lifts, CPM devices, and other unit equipment
- Document care clearly and promptly in the EMR and communicate changes to the team
- Coordinate with surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to support smooth transitions of care
- Educate patients and families on recovery plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Support unit workflow and step into charge duties when needed to maintain quality care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (compact or state-appropriate) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience in a hospital setting
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience with orthopedics, bariatrics, or medical oncology is a strong plus
- Comfortable using Hoyer lifts, CPM devices, and standard EMR systems
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Med-surgical nursing best practices and post-operative care
- Orthopedic surgery recovery protocols (knees, hips, shoulders) and bariatric patient handling
- Patient assessment, care planning, and safe medication administration
- EMR documentation, code cart familiarity, and standard unit procedures
- Safe operation of Hoyer lifts and CPM equipment
- Ability to manage patient ratios of roughly 5-6:1 while prioritizing safety
- Effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and clear patient communication
