Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered medical-surgical nursing care during night shifts
• Assess patients, implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes with clinical judgment
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document per policy
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns to the care team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe discharges and transitions
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up needs
• Maintain accurate charting in the electronic medical record and ensure compliance with unit standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Texas)
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience; Med-Surg experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (verify facility requirements)
• Comfortable working a 12-hour night shift in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical patient care and common conditions seen on Med-Surg units
• Skilled in patient assessment, vital sign interpretation, and bedside interventions
• Experience with medication administration and IV therapy
• Good clinical prioritization, time management, and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff
