Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for complex ICU patients, including ventilated and post-CABG patients
• Manage ventilators and perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring to keep patients stable
• Collaborate with intensivists and the multidisciplinary team on care plans and bedside procedures
• Perform ECMO support and heart transplant/cardiac post-op care when required, following unit protocols
• Deliver clear, compassionate bedside shift reports and updates to the whiteboard to support continuity of care
• Document thoroughly and accurately using Meditech and hospital systems
• Adhere to unit policies, infection control, and safety standards while mentoring newer staff when possible

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required, temporary licenses are not accepted
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU/Critical Care experience (CVICU experience preferred)
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfort caring for post-CABG patients; ECMO and heart transplant experience strongly preferred
• Ability to perform bedside shift report, maintain professional communication, and work collaboratively
• Experience with Meditech documentation preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and prioritization skills
• Proficiency in ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Familiarity with ECMO concepts and post-operative cardiac care
• Comfort with high-acuity cardiac procedures and telemetry monitoring
• Accurate clinical documentation, time management, and effective communication with families and team members
