Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, comprehensive nursing care to rehab patients, focusing on functional recovery and independence
• Administer medications, IVs and blood products safely and accurately
• Perform specialized care including PICC line care, trach care, tube feeding and Foley catheter management
• Document patient care thoroughly in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team — PT, OT, SLP, physiatrist and others — to create and execute individualized care plans
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns to optimize outcomes
• Support patient experience goals and participate in discharge planning and education

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med/Surg or PCU experience required)
• Current BLS certification
• Experience with medication administration, IV therapy, PICC, tube feeds and trach care
• Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Rehab experience preferred and a plus for success in this unit

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Virginia

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Meditech documentation skills and electronic charting confidence
• Proven medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Competence with PICC care, PEG/tube feeding and Foley catheter care
• Familiarity with bladder scanners, Baxter IV pumps and basic unit equipment
• Ability to work with patient ratios around 5-7:1 and collaborate with techs and support staff
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
