Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population in a high-volume ED
• Rapidly assess and triage patients, prioritize care, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Manage trauma and stroke patients with evidence-based protocols and timely escalation
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to ensure safe continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs, and support staff to optimize patient flow
• Coach and mentor teammates, giving constructive feedback in real time to elevate unit performance
• Operate and troubleshoot bedside equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Deliver an outstanding patient experience using AIDET principles and continuous communication

Qualifications

• Current RN license in North Carolina or compact license accepted; eligible for state licensure prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
• Required certifications prior to start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS; ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Experience in Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED is strongly preferred
• Comfortable floating within all sections of the ED and working a teamwork-focused environment
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and every-other-weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and trauma care workflows
• Stroke management and NIHSS assessment
• Patient triage and rapid assessment skills
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record
• Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitoring systems
• Strong communication, teamwork, and bedside coaching skills
• Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-volume ED environment
