Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry and patient status to keep patients safe and stable
• Administer medications, start IVs, and manage IV therapy with confidence
• Provide basic wound care and maintain surgical drains with attention to detail
• Perform chest tube and nasogastric tube care according to unit protocols
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Meditech
• Deliver compassionate bedside care and engage patients and families in care plans and bedside shift reports
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-focused care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with Med/Surg and telemetry experience strongly preferred
• Comfort with starting IVs, wound care, and maintenance of drains, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work effectively in a 6:1 patient ratio environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient documentation in Meditech
• Familiarity with IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, continuous pulse ox, and bladder scanner
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Ability to follow unit policies, float by rotation, and work well with techs and unit secretaries
