Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults in the inpatient rehab unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
• Administer medications including IVs and manage PICC and PEG tube care
• Perform blood administration, bladder scans, trach care, tube feedings and foley catheter care
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiatry, physician assistants and neuropsychology to support patient functional goals
• Maintain safe patient ratios and unit standards while contributing to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; Med/Surg or PCU experience required, inpatient rehab preferred
• Hands-on experience with IV medication administration and blood administration
• Comfortable with PICC, PEG tube care, trach care, tube feeding and bladder scanner use
• Experience working 12-hour shifts and adapting to rotating schedules
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar electronic health record systems preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg and inpatient rehab nursing knowledge
• Skilled in patient assessment, critical thinking and care planning
• Medication administration knowledge including IV pumps and blood products
• Competence with PICC, PEG, trach care, bladder scanner and Foley care
• Accurate documentation and charting in Meditech
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Ability to manage workload on 12-hour shifts and prioritize patient safety
