Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing abilities and create individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapy interventions to improve communication and swallowing function
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and therapists to coordinate holistic patient care
- Document assessments, treatment progress and discharge summaries accurately and on time
- Educate patients, families and caregivers with practical strategies to support carryover
- Participate in team meetings and contribute clinical insights to optimize outcomes
- Maintain professional licensure, certifications and adherence to facility policies
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as an SLP (as indicated in the job posting)
- Active or eligible Missouri SLP license (state licensure required for practice)
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent clinical degree
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or eligibility for certification where applicable
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment and treatment planning skills
- Comfortable working in an acute care/hospital environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in speech, language, cognitive-communication and dysphagia assessment
- Skilled in creating and implementing individualized treatment plans
- Familiarity with hospital documentation systems and regulatory standards
- Strong interpersonal and education skills for working with patients and families
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritize patient needs efficiently
