Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered rehabilitation care as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients using telemetry
- Administer IV medications and blood products safely and according to policy
- Draw labs promptly and accurately, and act on results in collaboration with providers
- Educate patients and families on individualized rehabilitation plans and self-care
- Document care and interventions clearly in the EMR (Meditech Magic)
- Advocate for patient needs and contribute to quality improvement efforts on the unit
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state license or compact RN privileges recommended)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (post-grad experience preferred)
- BLS certification (required)
- IV certification or demonstrated IV therapy competency (required)
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry monitors
- Experience with rehabilitation nursing or post-acute care preferred
- CRRN certification (preferred)
- ACLS certification preferred (ACLS within 90 days noted as desirable)
- Familiarity with Meditech Magic or similar EMR systems
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition
- IV therapy and blood administration
- Skilled lab draws and specimen handling
- Rehabilitation nursing principles and care-plan collaboration
- Patient and family education focused on functional recovery
- Use of EMR (Meditech Magic) and common bedside devices (iSTAT, glucometer)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
- Knowledge of quality indicator scoring in post-acute settings (nice to have)
