Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (day) with 1 night call shift per week; no weekends

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in cardiovascular cases — CABG, AAA, valve replacement and TAVR — with precision and focus
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field, instrumentation and implants to ensure patient safety
- Set up and operate OR equipment (Stryker/GE) and troubleshoot as needed during procedures
- Collaborate closely with RNs, surgeons and anesthesia to deliver seamless perioperative care
- Document care and case details accurately in the Meditech EMR
- Anticipate surgeon needs and provide efficient instrument handling to support optimal outcomes
- Participate in unit huddles and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- 3+ years of cardiovascular surgery (CV Surgery) experience preferred/expected for this unit
- Strong OR experience with cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, AAA, valve replacement and TAVR
- Comfortable with day shift schedule and rotating call (1 night call/week)
- Current BLS (or equivalent) — obtain or maintain per facility requirements
- Ability to work well in 1:1 patient ratio scenarios and function as a collaborative team member
Education
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and CST certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Experienced with cardiovascular surgical instrumentation and sterile technique
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation
- Comfort using Stryker and GE equipment commonly found in the OR
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills in a high-acuity environment
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm during complex procedures
- Understanding of perioperative protocols and patient safety practices
