Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a 36-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond quickly to telemetry alarms and changes in patient status
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress using Meditech reliably and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, monitor techs and the interdisciplinary team during daily huddles
• Perform hourly rounding and engage in bedside patient experience practices
• Provide patient and family education focused on recovery, safety and discharge planning
• Float to support other units as needed while maintaining safe patient ratios (typical 5:1)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or multistate compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (Med-Surg, Telemetry or Cardiac preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Experience working with Meditech or similar electronic health record preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts, every-other-weekend rotation and occasional holiday coverage
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg and Telemetry clinical knowledge including cardiac monitoring and interventions
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation and electronic charting
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips and escalate appropriately
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization and time-management skills
• Clear communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Familiarity with unit equipment such as Stryker beds and bedside communication systems
