Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for med-surg and telemetry patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry alerts and changes in condition
• Perform thorough assessments, administer medications, and manage IV therapy safely
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear clinical handoffs
• Participate in hourly rounding and daily huddles to improve patient experience and outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Adapt to unit needs and float to other areas as census requires while maintaining patient safety

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active license or ability to obtain Virginia licensure
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience; Med-Surg and Telemetry experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven experience with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Strong cardiac care and telemetry monitoring skills
• Ability to work rotating night shifts, every other weekend, and some holidays

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and recognition of cardiac arrhythmias
• Medical-surgical nursing principles and post-operative care
• Accurate electronic charting and documentation in Meditech
• IV medication administration, wound care, and basic critical thinking skills
• Effective, compassionate communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Acuity-based prioritization in a 5:1 patient ratio environment
