Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Great Barrington, MA
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typical schedule averages 36 hours/week), every other weekend and holidays as required; on-call as needed
Candidate Pay Rate: $71.06 - $98.17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care from admission through delivery and immediate postpartum
- Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, and lactation consultants to support patient birth preferences
- Perform postpartum and mother-baby assessments and deliver compassionate, individualized care
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal monitoring, and escalate concerns promptly
- Prepare and support patients for Cesarean births in the OR when needed
- Participate in emergency response and neonatal stabilization following NRP and STABLE guidelines
- Document care accurately and maintain required skills checklists and certifications
- Support families with breastfeeding education and newborn care guidance
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
- Postpartum / Mother Baby (PP/MB) experience required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Active Massachusetts RN license required (must be uploaded with profile)
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification required
- Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Active STABLE certification required
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
- Skills checklists for Labor & Delivery, Post Partum, and Mother Baby current to 1 year (documents required)
- Permanent address must be included in profile; candidate must have own vehicle
- Note: Client will not consider travelers within 50 miles of the facility
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — required
- Active Massachusetts RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interpretation
- Strong postpartum and newborn assessment skills
- Neonatal stabilization and resuscitation (NRP, STABLE)
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Ability to manage labor progress, pain management options, and emergency scenarios
- Patient education and lactation support knowledge
- Accurate electronic charting and documentation skills
- Adaptability in a community hospital setting with critical access considerations
