Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate perioperative services to ensure safe, efficient surgical care
- Oversee circulating RN duties and mentor staff to maintain high standards in the OR
- Identify operational challenges in the surgical department and implement practical solutions
- Delegate tasks effectively and maintain smooth workflow across teams and shifts
- Maintain composure and direct immediate responses during clinical emergencies
- Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers to optimize patient care
- Monitor quality and safety metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support staff development through coaching, performance feedback, and professional guidance
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and AHA PALS (current/required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required)
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- CNOR preferred
- One year post-anesthesia care experience preferred
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
- Strong written and oral English skills (required)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing expertise and familiarity with circulating RN duties
- Leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to delegate effectively
- Problem identification and resolution in surgical settings
- Patient-centered care practices and clinical judgment
- Ability to maintain composure and lead during emergencies
- Strong communication skills for working with physicians, staff, and patients
- Understanding of OR safety, infection control, and hazardous materials handling
