Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patients to create timely, individualized nursing care plans that improve outcomes
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely, following physician orders and facility policy
• Perform EKGs and blood draws/venipuncture for diagnostic and pre-op needs
• Provide thorough, timely documentation and handoff reports to ensure continuity of care
• Coordinate and perform pre-admission and pre-operative testing, communicating critical results
• Deliver patient and family teaching to support successful discharges and recovery plans
• Respond immediately and effectively in emergency situations to protect patient safety
• Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with the care team to arrange follow-up
• Act as a patient advocate ensuring privacy, dignity, and respectful care at all times
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor to colleagues and contribute to ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Current MA Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• ACLS upon hire OR current BLS with commitment to obtain ACLS within 60 days
• Basic Dysrhythmia Course completion within 6 months if no prior telemetry experience
• Minimum 1 year med-surg experience preferred; telemetry and skilled nursing experience a plus
• Ability to complete hospital and department mandatory requirements and maintain compliance

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient patient assessment and clinical judgment
• Safe medication administration and IV therapy skills
• EKG acquisition and basic dysrhythmia recognition
• Competence in blood draws and venipuncture
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
• Effective patient and family education techniques
• Emergency response and basic life support skills
• Teamwork, prioritization, and delegation in a fast-paced med/surg environment
