Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiographic examinations (M-mode, 2D/3D, Doppler) to provide accurate diagnostic images for physicians
• Conduct transesophageal (TEE) and stress echocardiography procedures safely and efficiently
• Assess image quality and use clinical judgment to obtain additional views or protocols when necessary
• Recognize arrhythmias or acute EKG abnormalities and promptly notify the physician
• Document patient and procedural information thoroughly and maintain 98% accuracy in charge capture
• Prepare patients with compassion — provide physical comfort, emotional support, and clear education about the procedure
• Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, report issues, and process repair paperwork
• Participate in on-call roster and respond appropriately in emergency situations

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program (required)
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) required
• Current BLS certification required
• Comfortable performing Adult Echo, Stress Echo, and TEE; some pediatric exposure may be required
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to function in an on-call rotation
• Familiarity with ASE imaging and measurement standards and EKG/arrhythmia recognition

Education

• Associate Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in echocardiography, Doppler flow analyses, M-mode, 2D and 3D imaging
• Experience with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and stress echocardiography
• Ability to perform and document measurements per ASE standards
• EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition for timely physician notification
• Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and following established procedures
• Strong documentation, charge capture accuracy, and patient education skills
• Clinical judgment for additional testing protocols and assessing image quality
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
