Roles & Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies following SPD workflow and best practices
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as VPro, Sterrad and steam sterilizers and automated endoscope reprocessors
• Manage endoscope reprocessing and ensure scopes are processed per protocol
• Perform closing procedures for the department to ensure rooms and instruments are ready for the next day
• Maintain accurate documentation and assist with Cerner charting as required
• Float to cover other surgical and outpatient areas (WC) including hybrid rooms, cath lab and endoscopy when needed
• Participate in orientation and team trainings to maintain compliance and high quality standards
• Support the surgical team by ensuring sterile trays and instruments are available and safe for patient care

Qualifications

• 1 year experience as an SPD / Sterile Processing Tech (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification preferred but not required
• Familiarity with VPro, Sterrad systems, steam sterilizers and automated endoscope reprocessors
• Comfort floating to similar departments (OR, hybrid rooms, cath lab, outpatient urology and endoscopy)
• Able to work within the 50-mile radius rule and accept rotating call/standby, weekends and holiday rotations
• Cannot have worked permanent or PRN at CSH in the last 12 months (requirement for this role)

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument sterilization and reprocessing best practices
• Decontamination and SPD workflow
• Endoscope reprocessing techniques
• Operation and basic troubleshooting of sterilizers (VPro, Sterrad, steam)
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar charting systems
• Strong attention to detail, time management and teamwork
• Comfort supporting a wide range of case types including Da Vinci XI procedures
